disclaimer: i love 5/5 with all of my heart, so nothing about what i’m about to say is coming from a place of hatred but rather frustration and honesty.

i’m growing really tired of the lack of accountability harry receives nowadays. harry is a 21 year old media trained individual. he understands that all of his public actions will be criticized and speculated about. there have been many instances in which h would acknowledge then choose to ignore something a fan has done, such as when he saw that somebody threw a dildo onstage during otra and walked over it rather than giving it the full attention fans craved. he picks and chooses on what to act on, so why did he feel like it was necessary to kick zayn’s cutout off the stage? you can clearly see that he did it for a reaction, seeing as he looked toward louis and attempted to kick it off twice. it wasn’t that serious. the stage was massive and was already riddled with objects fans have thrown, and yet h CHOSE to react to the zayn cutout, and all of y'all are applauding and laughing about it. we all don’t know about the current status of the boys’ relationships, yes, but what if the roles were reversed? what if it was zayn that said the hardest part of leaving 1d was the paperwork? what if it was zayn who kicked a harry cutout off a stage he was performing on? a good amount of you called zayn immature for tweeting LOL in the middle of the night the other day, assuming that it was toward the boys despite nothing indicating that it was. and yet, harry has been blatantly harsh toward z and y'all claim it’s just “his humour”…. interesting. stop praising h for shit you would burn z at the stake for.

secondly, zayn did not trash 1d’s music. in the FADER article, he said that one direction’s music was never the type of music he wanted to create. years BEFORE he got into one direction, he dreamt of pursuing a solo career that suited his tastes, but took the opportunity of being in 1d when it was in front of him. like to not understand that zayn was never fully about one direction’s sound is downright naïve. if you look back on some of 1d’s live performances, you can hear zayn trying to put his own spin on his solos/riffs (i’m on my phone so i can’t link y'all but remember that wmyb performance they did for a select group of fans in a US diner? listen to how zayn’s solo differs from the rest of the boys). from the start, one direction’s music just wasn’t his preference, both as an artist and a casual listener. and what’s bad about that? are you gonna strip zayn’s right of musical preferences because you don’t approve of it? we all have our own preferences in music, so why are some of you being such hypocrites toward zayn? i truly don’t understand it. also, this whole “zayn hates 1d/fans” narrative needs to fucking stop. in his speech during the asian awards, zayn said the other boys were “4 of the greatest guys” he has ever met and that he would remember the time they spent together for the rest of his life. in the FIRST INTERVIEW zayn did after leaving 1d, he said that he left later than he intended to because of the FANS. he was SCARED of letting US down because he chose HIMSELF for once. how fucked up is that? he gave up 5 years of his fucking life for us and people have the AUDACITY to act like he’s ungrateful for what he has been given. and are we forgetting about how he tweeted about drag me down? saying that it was a chune and that he was proud of “his boys”? are we forgetting that he retweeted liam’s 5th anniversary tweet that included him? THANKING him for still including him on that special day in 1d history? zayn is an integral part of 1d and he clearly hasn’t forgotten what he has gotten from it, so stop vilifying him for growing out of love with it and focusing on what he wants for himself.
